Security was tight in New York City on Thursday for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade after it was reported that ISIS may have called for supporters to launch attacks. No incidents were reported and the parade went smoothly.

Black Friday Shoppers Hit the Streets Around the World
Fresh from their Thanksgiving festivities, millions of people around the world are flocking to stores today to take advantage of ‘Black Friday’ sales, on what has become the busiest shopping day of the year in America. In France, Black Friday has been imported from the United States. The day’s ‘special discount’ has imposed itself for some years and is a phenomenal success. Last year, the French spent nearly 170 million euros on Black Friday, which could amount to 204 million euros this year.

Originating in the USA as a sales day following the Thanksgiving holiday, ‘Black Friday’ has become an increasingly popular shopping day in Spain, with consumers looking for bargains ahead of the traditional Christmas shopping period.
The Syrian conflict continues into its 6th year as a humanitarian crisis of massive proportions. It’s estimated that more than half the population, nearly 11 million Syrians, have been displaced due to the conflict, and almost 4 million have become refugees. Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan and Iraq have taken in the majority of refugees, more than 90% of all Syrian refugees in total. The conflict is ongoing, now a multi-sided war beginning as a civil war with Syria and exacerbated by foreign interventions. The 2011 Arab Spring is said to be the primary cause of the war, severely escalating after the government of President Bashar al-Assad tried to curtail protests with military force.

Arson Suspected As Wild Fires Rage Across Israel
Tens of thousands were told to evacuate immediately as fires raged throughout Israel for a third consecutive day. Israel’s security increasingly believes that several of the wildfires may have been politically motivated cases of arson, though most of the fires were caused by extreme wind gusts and drought. Russia, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Croatia and Cyprus will send a total of 10 airplanes to Israel to help fight the spreading fires.

India Train Accident Kills Scores
A passenger train derailed in northern India on November 20, killing at least 63 travelers most of whom were sleeping when the fatal accident occurred, police said. Rescue workers rushed to the scene near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh state where the Patna-Indore express train derailed in the early hours of the morning.
