Demonstrations in Response to Trump’s Immigration Order

Demonstrators gathered at Regan National Airport on February 1.

Demonstrations have been rampant all across the nation in response to Trump’s order banning travelers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days. All refugees are barred for 120 days, while Syrian refugees are blocked indefinitely. With the order being signed and immediately enforced, many travelers found themselves stranded at airports, some of whom already live and work in the US and were returning from oversea travels.

Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee, Meets With Senators on Capitol Hill

Neil Gorsuch, who could take the vacant Supreme Court seat, met with Senators on February 2.

The seat on the Supreme Court has been vacant since Justice Antonin Scalia passed away on February 13, 2016. If Gorsuch is named the next judge, based on his past decisions, he will bring balance to the Supreme Court that existed a year ago of four conservatives, four liberals, and one swing voter (Justice Kennedy). Also, at 49, Gorsuch would be the youngest Supreme Court Justice to serve in 25 years.
