Eighty Years Since Earhart’s Disappearance
July 2, 2017 marks eighty years since pioneer aviator Amelia Earhart disappeared during her circumnavigational flight around the world. Earhart’s many accomplishments include being the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and be the first aviator to fly solo from Honolulu, HI to Oakland, CA. She inspired thousands of future women, particularly those who became WASPs (Women Air Force Service Pilots) during WWII.
Protests in London
On July 1 more than 10,000 people gathered for the “Not One Day More” march in Parliament Square in London, England. The protestors are frustrated with Theresa May’s Conservative minority government. Read more.
